The 生物学 major prepares 学生 for graduate school, medical/allied health professional schools, or for careers in teaching, 生物技术, 工业实验室, 或者环境工作. Within the general framework of the biology degree, and in addition to the required biology, 数学, and other science courses, a student may choose from one of three focus areas: organismal biology, molecular/cellular biology, or pre-health professional; or create an individualized program to meet special interests.

化学
The 化学 program has three main purposes: (1) to educate chemists for graduate work, 研究, 行业, and teaching; (2) to give a basic background in chemistry to 学生 of related sciences; and (3) as a part of general education, to broaden 学生’ knowledge of and appreciation for scientific advancement as it affects their lives, 社会, 和环境. The program emphasizes the application of chemical principles to the life sciences, although curriculum tracks for various other career areas may be appropriate.

A degree in 计算机科学 focuses on the provides a broad-based background sufficient for entry into a career in computing in many of its standard formats. Engineering Studies (Associate Degree)
The Associate of 科学 degree in Engineering Studies provides a rigorous course of study in the prerequisites of a four-year engineering program. All courses in the program are accepted for credit by the Engineering Schools of the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville toward any of their specific engineering field programs. Generally, 学生 from Brescia with this two-year degree should be able to complete a B.S. degree in engineering after two additional years at the University of Kentucky; however, some areas of engineering may require some summer course work if the Bachelor’s degree is to be completed in four years.

The Health 科学s Associate Degree encompasses the courses identified as prerequisites for admission into the University of Louisville’s School of Nursing; the degree enables 学生 to be competitive in seeking admission into the U of L program or other nursing programs.

The 数学ematics curriculum at Brescia University combines concern for maximizing the learning of each individual and an interdisciplinary approach into a program that balances traditional 数学ematical theory, creative 解决问题 processes, and development of applied models to solve real problems. It prepares 学生 for meaningful careers in both 行业 and teaching or for graduate study.

Students pursuing an Education major with Middle School Certification may choose 数学ematics as one of the two required Specialty Areas (English, 数学, 社会研究, 科学, 或特殊教育).

Medical Laboratory 科学
Students in this major register with the biology area and pursue three years of coursework in biology and chemistry. The final year is a 12-month internship in the laboratory of an approved hospital, earning a maximum of 30 credit hours during the internship. Brescia is affiliated with the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and with the University of Louisville and its partnered affiliations as possible sites for the Medical Technology internship requirement.
Licensing and Certification are two different types of credentials. A Professional or Trade License is issued by a government body and authorizes the license holder to practice their procession or trade in the state where the license has been issued. Certification is a professional credential issued by an 行业 organization. There are 12 states in the United States that require Medical Laboratory Technicians to be licensed: California, 佛罗里达, 乔治亚州, 夏威夷, 路易斯安那州, 蒙大拿, 内华达, 纽约, 北达科他, 罗德岛州, 田纳西州, 和西弗吉尼亚州. Several employers in Kentucky want Medical Lab Technicians to have the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and the American Medical Technologist (AMT) certification within 12 months of employment.
